Rainbow going back to school

Réalt Na Mara Girls’ School – October 2020

The Gates are Open and the Children are Back in

Réalt Na Mara Girls’ School

Fáilte ar ais ar scoil to all the girls, parents, guardians, teachers and SNAs. We are delighted to be in school again and continuing with the learning. We worked hard during the summer months preparing the school to welcome the children back to a safe environment. Large quantities of PPE were purchased and social distancing signs were put up throughout the school. Vigorous cleaning regimes were put in place and the children were reminded about how to wash their hands.

The children returned to new seating arrangements, new break times and new rules but they adapted very quickly and are well settled now.

Teachers focused on children’s wellbeing, cognisant of the months spent at home away from friends. There has been lots of talking, exercising and best of all, very little homework. It’s great to be back!

Bressie’s Wellbeing for Schools comes to 5th Class

Ms. Colgan’s and Ms. Murtagh’s 5th Classes were very lucky to have been chosen to partake in the Pilot Wellbeing Programme for Schools initiative, created by author and musician Niall Breslin(Bressie) and Paula McLoughlin. The ‘A Lust For Life’ Schools Programme aims to build resilience, increase wellbeing and enhance the emotional literacy of 5th and 6th class school children. By using a Netflix style platform, children creatively learn about their wellbeing and self-care with content that is rooted in psychology, has been written by educational specialists and created by children for children.

We are two lessons in and we have enjoyed practising Square breathing and the Body Scan.
