Bettystown Tidy Towns – January 2021

Bettystown Tidy Towns (BTT)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year from Bettystown Tidy Towns! We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who supported us throughout 2020 including Meath County Council, local councillors through their Discretionary Funding, local businesses for their donations and contributions and to those in the community who volunteer with us.

Community Wellbeing Initiative 2020

Bettystown Tidy Towns certificate

We were delighted to be announced as the Innovative Project Winner in Laytown Bettystown Municipal district in the Meath County Council 2020 Community Wellbeing Initiative Awards. The purpose of the awards is to recognise the wonderful work community groups have undertaken in direct response to supporting their communities during the COVID-19 health crisis. The Innovative Project award was in recognition of Bettystown Tidy Towns community work, the gardens and the inclusiveness of our group.

Minnistown Road Project

A hardy group of our volunteers, assisted by local residents, undertook a clean up of the Minnistown Road in December. Litter, dumped rubbish and assorted bits of hardware were collected. Over the course of several days more than 50 bags of rubbish were filled. The whole road has now been cleared of litter from top to bottom. Newly dumped litter will be easy to spot and reported to the litter warden.

New Year Clean Ups

If your community group would like to take part in a community clean up in 2021 please contact Bettystown Tidy Towns on Facebook.

Wildflower gardens

Our green fingered volunteers have been busy in the wildflower gardens this month. The Green Gate Garden has been weeded and raked and we are looking forward to all our gardens blooming in the Spring.
