St Colmcille’s C.L.G. – March 2021

My Life Challenge

We have had a super time over the last 6 weeks taking  part in the Irish Life – My Life/Every Step Counts challenge.  At the time of writing with just 4 days to go we have clocked up an amazing 71,600km and we hope to get to 80,000 km or 50,000 miles by the closing date to mark the club’s 50th anniversary.  A superb effort by some 300 members sees us top of the tree of 197 participating clubs in Leinster and we have had such great fun and banter.   Our efforts also featured on a piece from the GAA on its website and the initiative is a credit to all involved.  It has been a tough few months for everyone but the challenge has given everyone a great focus, a sense of unity and leaves us all excited for the season ahead –  the Cilles Family is well a006Ed truly on the move.  Whilst there are so many involved a special thanks to Ciara Lalor and Healthy Club Officer, Lisa McDonald whose brainchild the challenge was.  However the most special and biggest word goes to every single participant, irrespective of where you did 1km or 1,500 km (yes, some did”).  You have all done us so proud.  The final results will be in next week’s Coaster.  For now, I have to get some more  steps in

Supreme All Stars

Congrats to our own Robbie O’Malley on being named an Irish Independent Supreme All-Star being the greatest right corner back of the All Star era.  A more than deserved honour Robbie is a legend in the true meaning of the word.  His exploits on the GAA field are well known but his contribution off it in leading Meath U21 and Meath Seniors to Leinster titles as a backroom member are as impressive but most impressive of all his unstinting charity work and making a difference in the lives of so many.  Well done again Robbie from all at the Cilles
