Tara Tours Ireland were recently founded by local Laytown Tour guide Liam O’Hannigan.
“We customised our tours for the staycation market” said Liam “People were telling us how they rediscovered their love for their local area and Ireland in general. A sort of reawakening for the country. Places we often walked by suddenly became places of great interest. So we worked on developing tours that would help people learn more about their surroundings while having a fun day out doing so”.
What tour is already running? “Our ‘East Coast Trails & Tales’ tour started in May. It goes from Laytown up to Mosney/Gormanston. As well as beautiful scenery, it’s full of great stories, characters and rich history (which surprises many). It’s proving very popular and we have been delighted with all the glowing reviews. The people on our tours have been great.”
Any more planned? “Yes. We have more tours becoming available in June, including tours of Dublin City, Howth and the Boyne Valley. We also customise tours which are tailored for specific groups.”
What type of groups are booking tours? “Wonderfully diverse groups! We have booked tours for schools, active age groups, men’s sheds, youth reach and corporate companies looking for a fun social day out. Walking groups have also been very enthusiastic. Group leaders tell me that they are always seeking new ways to organise a get together/day out. Restrictions have kept people apart too long. With things opening up again, groups see tours as a great way to restart their social meet ups.
Any ‘local’ events? “Yes. We will have family fun day events. We will team up with local businesses to organise these events on the East Coast. Our area. Mornington-Bettystown- Laytown, has no real central activities for families. We aim to change that. Keep an eye out on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
