Susanne Deasy is a local artist and Art teacher from Bettystown. With the installation of a 115m wall beside the new spine road running along the school yards, we decided to paint a series of murals for the school pupils to enjoy. With the generosity of our residents who donated supplies as well as a very generous paint donation from ABP Hardware in Bettystown we were able to run the project along with our school budget.

Susanne said “I ran it as a voluntary project, worked on designs drawing inspiration from Meath’s rich heritage of Celtic stories from the Tuatha de Danann, Bru Na Boyne valley and its tombs, our local stretch of coastline from Laytown to Bettystown with its statues, Tara Brooch and beach activities, and finally the school garden with enchanted woodland and tropical forests.

I began the project June 1st and it is set for completion by July. I worked with a team of 10 volunteers from Ballymakenny College Drogheda and Loreto Balbriggan who all dedicated their time tirelessly to assisting me create this fabulous wall space.”
