Laytown Tidy Towns – November 2021

We continued our work clearing the footpaths at the small carpark (opposite Aldi).

There was a vast amount of weeds in between the paving stones which is why we worked on it for a number of weeks on Saturdays and occasionally on a weekday as well!

Sadly though, the job of clearing the footpaths of weed took so long that by the time we finished growth was well under way again!

As you can see in the photos, the trees were seriously overgrown, so we pruned them well!

We will apply our eco-friendly weedkiller in the next few weeks which hopefully will at least slow down the growth!

We turned our attention to the edges of the road at the railway bridge. We forgot to take a “before” picture,

but as you can see from the photo taken during the work there was a lot of clay underneath the weeds which were growing in abundance. Well done to Joey and John for doing this hard work…..the end result is fabulous as you can see!

At the same time the rest of the team worked at removing weeds from the flowerbed at the sidings, which is another job that needs doing regularly!

Great work is being done by all our volunteers, but we could do so much more if we had a few newcomers! Please remember you are always welcome to join in, even if you are only available occasionally! We meet at the Coast Tavern at 10am every Saturday and would love to see you there!
