Laytown Tidy Towns – January 2022

Friday 5th. December kicked off with a lovely evening of music outside Gilna’s with Pat and Tina of Smooth. Santa arrived just in time to switch on the Christmas Tree lights and then handed out selection boxes to all the children. Mulled wine was offered, thanks to Gilna’s!

We would like to thank Santa, Cllr Thomas Behan, Meath Co. Council for their contribution and Elite Landscaping for their help erecting and lighting the tree. Special thanks to Jimmy Gilna and staff for hosting the event and our two musicians, Pat and Tina, for the excellent entertainment.

On Monday 6th we installed solitary bee and insect hotels at the railway sidings to provide shelter for pollinators.
We then planted some holly saplings, supported by bamboo, near the sidings. We got the saplings from Meath Co. Council along with some Rowan, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry and Guelder Rose saplings which will be planted out within the next few weeks.
We added some Christmas lights around some plants in the flowerbed at the railway sidings to add to the festive cheer!l
We wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year!
