Castlehill R.C.

The members of Castlehill RC have been out in force recently supporting shows that have long been missing from the riding club calendar due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Our members competed in dressage and performance hunter classes at the recent June bank holiday show hosted by Cheval RC. Well done to all our members who competed brilliantly and topped off their day with a picnic in the sun!

In preparation for the NER National Dressage Championships Qualifiers, the club hosted dressage training with Mark Ruddock at the National Sports Campus recently. Mark put our members through their paces, but made the sessions incredibly enjoyable and fun too. Thanks to Kate Hutchison for organising, as our members put this training to good use.

One of the biggest regional shows of the year is the NER National Dressage Championships Qualifier, and this year it was run at Killossery Lodge Stud near Swords. One team representing the club was entered, consisting of Kate Hutchison and Dolmen de Klerk, Anne Dickenson and Rocklawns Warrior, Genia De Souza and Abbeylands Ard Ri and Klara Ralph O’Connor and Castleview Ozzie. The girls each rode two tests, which counted toward the team score. They performed incredibly well against 6 other teams, to place 2nd, and qualify the club for national championships. All of the members of Castlehill RC are incredibly proud of this achievement, and can’t wait to support the girls at nationals in Mullingar EC in August. Competing individually on the day was Emma Keane and French Tiffney, who were back in the dressage arena after a long absence. Emma was unlucky not to be placed in a hotly contested AP class. In the intermediate class, Genia also placed 6th, and in the Primary class, Klara took the top spot in first place. In the Open class, club chairman Lindsey ilona Brady and Trigger Joe placed 2nd. Well done to everyone who competed, it’s been a long absence from shows, but are members are delighted to be back out and about competing.
