Castlehill RC – October 2021

September saw the return of the White’s Agri NER Autumn Dressage League, which took place over four consecutive weeks at Cheval Showgrounds, Jordanstown, Co. Dublin. The members of Castlehill RC were out in force to support the league, with the first leg being hosted by Copperfield RC.

In the Primary class Klara Ralph O’Connor and Castleview Ozzie took the top spot, with Elaine Mulligan and DMF Alphabet placing 2nd in the Sportsmans A, and Lindsey ilona Brady and Trigger Joe coming 2nd in the Open class.

At the second leg, which was hosted by our own Castlehill RC, new member Alison Proudfoot and My Nightmare placed 6th in the Walk/Trot class, Klara Ralph O’Connor won the Primary class with clubmate Diane Ford and Mr. Brown close behind taking 4th place. In the Advanced Primary class, club secretary Olivia Nolan and Bridgemount Eskert Lily placed 4th, with Elaine Mulligan placing 5th and Emma McQuail and French Tiffany placing 6th! Anne Dickenson and the lovely chestnut gelding Rocklawns Warrior took the top spot in the Sportsmans A, while Elaine Mulligan placed 3rd. Club Chairperson Lindsey ilona Brady and Trigger Joe also won the Open class. Huge thanks to all our club volunteers that allowed the show to run so smoothly on the day, and thanks to Lucinda Webb Graham who judged 58 tests.

The third leg of the league was hosted by Ashbrook RC, who ran their show in commemoration of the recent passing of their club secretary Mags Aughney. All competitors throughout the league wore purple ribbon on their jackets as a mark of respect. In the primary class Diane Ford and Mr. Brown did a super test, and were unlucky not to be placed, and Lindsey ilona Brady and Trigger Joe won the Open class.

The final of the league was hosted by Kilronan RC, where Rosie Mooney with Theodore Diamond Dazzler and Klara Ralph O’Connor with Castleview Ozzie competed in the Primary Class, with Klara taking the top spot and winning the league! Well done Klara! In the AP class, Maeve Duffy rode Theodore Diamond Dazzler and Emma Keane rode French Tiffany, but both were unlucky to be out of the placings. In the Sportsmans A class, Elaine Mulligan and DMF Alphabet placed 3rd and took home 2nd place in the league! In the Open class, Lindsey ilona Brady placed 2nd with Trigger Joe and placed 2nd in the league.

Well done to everyone who competed, and our members are looking forward to getting jumping at the October “Jump for Joy” league.
