Laytown Tidy Towns – October 2021

Autumn is well underway with evenings getting darker. It is lovely to see so much colour of summer around the village.
The Tara House as always has a well tended variety of plants in their hanging baskets and plant pots.
Ariosa have done a lovely job with the corner of their outdoor seating area.

Newly painted, Gilna’s Cottage Inn looks amazing with flowers trailing from all their window boxes.

The planters and flowerbeds around the village also add some colour! Well done to all for making the village stay bright and cheerful!
During September we have been working on clearing the weeds from the footpaths and kerbs at the small car park opposite Aldi. It is a slow job, but as you can see makes a huge difference.

We turned our attention to the pathway down which was almost blocked by the branches of a tree. The branches were cut back and removed opening up the walkway again! We then started work on the path.

We had put eco-friendly weedkiller on the cleared path but the lack of rain meant it was not absorbed, so the weeds returned quickly! We plan to put more weed-killer down and will water the area ourselves if necessary.

We are really in need of more volunteers. There is edging to do, weeding of planters and flower beds and much more! If you have an hour to spare on Saturday morning please join us! We meet at the Coast Tavern at 10am and would love to see you there. §
