East Meath United F.C. – October 2021

Club News

This month we were delighted to see the return of ‘The Red Card Café’ at Minninstown. The café has been a long standing social hub for the club and its absence due to Covid restrictions was a blow for parents, players and coaches alike. With the winter closing in on us it’s nice to know Ursula, Deb and the team will have us covered on those cold winter mornings whether it is Academy or matches.

With Covid restrictions finally lifted, the fundraising committee is back up and running within the club. As with all clubs we are always on the lookout for willing volunteers both from within the club and local community to help us raise much needed funds to continue to provide facilities and equipment for our ever growing membership. If you feel you could contribute to this please contact fundraising@eastmeathunited.ie

Boys

All our boys’ teams returned to league action in late August and early September. It was great to see all the happy faces as they faced some competitive action for the first time this season. The good recent weather has helped them all enjoy a great start to the season. For information on team spaces please registrar@eastmeathunited.ie

Girls

Girls only academy every sat 9-10am, for players aged 4-7.

The EMU girls are flying high in the Louth Schoolgirls League. Both the U9, U11 are well into their leagues, and doing incredibly well. The two U13 teams have wrapped up their leagues and are now starting their respective Cup campaigns.

The U11’s are in the semi-final of the LSGL Credit Union Cup at home against Bellurgan on Sat 2nd Oct time TBC. All support is welcome.

Our newly formed U15 team is taking part in the Metropolitan Girls League, and had the opportunity to attend the game against Australia last week, where Vera Pauw’s team broke their losing streak with a 3-2 victory.

The girls would like to thank their sponsors Diamond Kleen, Diamond Shipping, Court Welding, A&J Construction and MS Transport.

Football for All

Our Football for All team, “The All-Stars”, we’re delighted to return to training earlier this month. It was clear to see that they have all been working hard on their skills over the summer break. There was immense excitement, and fun gained when we returned to training mode.

If you would like to find out more about joining our team, or if you are interested in volunteering and helping with the programme, please don’t hesitate to contact Janet on 085 128 9477.

Academy

EMU Academy runs every Saturday in Minnistown for boys and girls aged 4-7. There is always a great level of positivity in the air with Mark arriving early every week to get prepared. The sun so far has always been shining, and it is a joy for us all to see their happy faces. As with any club, support is welcome. We know you will find it very rewarding and great fun to be part of these young player’s development in football.

If you can help in any way, please contact any of the coaches or contact us at academy@eastmeathunited.ie
