Congratulations to the class of 2021 on their outstanding Leaving Certificate results with a very significant number of students, some of them picture below, receiving over 500 points and five with full 625. The school would like to take this opportunity to recognise all the hard work that each and every student put into their studies to achieve their own personal success.

Many of the students have secured places in TCD, UCD, DCU, TUD, Maynooth and NUI Galway, NCAD, IADT and various other Higher Education Institutes here in Ireland and abroad to study various courses including Law, Dentistry, Medicine, Science, Engineering, Teaching, and Humanities and many more. The staff prides itself on a holistic approach to education, where each student and their individual success is acknowledged and celebrated.

Congratulations to Selina Xu, Laura Masterson, Zainab Shahid, Iman Khan and Willemijn Bosschaert who achieved the maximum 625 points in their Leaving Certificate.

If nothing else, the pandemic has taught us the importance of mental wellbeing and resilience and Loreto Balbriggan is very aware of the value of this lesson. Over the course of September, all 1st Year students will participate in mental health workshops facilitated by ‘Motus Learning’ which help young people identify and understand their emotions and how to manage their mental health. 6th Year students also attended an excellent seminar with Shane Martin (C.Psychol.Ps.S.I) which focused on managing their wellbeing and resilience as Leaving Certificate students. At the Parent’s Association AGM, parents and guardians were also encouraged to look after their wellbeing in a very informative and enjoyable webinar presented by John Doran (@awaytowellbeing).

On Tuesday 14th September TY students enjoyed a fabulous day out on Causey farm in Co Meath. It was truly an action packed day where the students participated in various activities from bread making, milking the cows and feeding the other farm animals to having fun on the lake in pedalo boats. All agreed that the highlight of the day was the ever popular bog jumping, not to be recommended if you have a fear of getting dirty! It was a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get to know each other again after the summer holidays and to bond as a year group as they embark on their exciting TY journey.
