St. Pat’s U20’S football

The U20’S football championship finally got underway way, later than usual in December. The competition was to be a straight knockout.

After a tight encounter in the first round our lads came out with a win to set up a semi final against St.Ultans in Cortown. It was a low scoring match which our guys completely dominated the home side and left with an easy win. This set up a final against Meath hill in Donore

Meath hill started the game very well showing great intensity from the start outscoring the Pat’sin the first 15 minutes. After the water break, Pat’s came out all guns blazing and matched the intensity and getting a few scores to leave it all square at half time. There was no separating the sides at full time either as neither side was prepared to give an inch. In the first half of extra time, it was all Meath hill as they scored 4 unanswered points which was the difference between the two sides at the end.

We may not have won but with the showing our lads put up, we have a great future if these lads stick at it. A fantastic performance.

U21 Hurlers.

Our U21 Hurlers made history this year as it was the first time ever our club had put in an U21 team. Due to the late start of the competition, things might have turned out different as instead of the traditional format, it was a straight knockout. We came up against Wolftones of Navan. We put in a great performance and came within 1 point only for the concession of 2 late goals put an end to the tie.

On a positive note, our guys played the better hurling which gives us great hope for the future.
